Looking for a REALLY Large Wall Clock? We Actually Make Them!
(One thing to understand about The Big Clock Store is that each style comes in small, medium, large and extra large. Any style that you find, you can get the right size for your space. )

When I started making clocks about 25 years ago, the very first clock I made was at a church craft day. It was 24 inches across, and I thought it was HUGE! I honestly couldn't imagine why anyone would want a clock bigger than that.
Well, I found out pretty quickly.
As I started selling my 24-inch clocks, customers kept asking for bigger ones. So I started making 30-inch clocks, then 36-inch clocks, and eventually I was making clocks as large as 60 inches!
That's five feet across! And yes, people really did buy them.
Unfortunately, shipping something that large became a nightmare. In fact, shipping a 48-inch clock can now cost me as much as $2,000. I'm not exaggerating! So I've had to make some adjustments to the sizes I offer.
When Is a Large Clock Actually Large?
One thing that has always amused (and occasionally frustrated) me is what people call an "extra-large" wall clock.
I've seen clocks advertised as EXTRA LARGE that are only 15 inches across!
Now, there's nothing wrong with a 15-inch clock. I make those too. But when you're looking for a truly oversized wall clock to fill a big wall, a 15-inch clock probably isn't what you have in mind.
At The Big Clock Store, we make clocks in lots of sizes, from 12 inches all the way up to 46 inches.
But here's what I consider our truly large wall clocks:
-
30 inches: A beautiful statement clock that works in many living rooms and larger spaces.
-
36 inches: Now we're getting BIG! A great choice for large walls, high ceilings, and open living areas.
-
40 inches: A seriously oversized clock that becomes a focal point of the room.
-
46 inches: Almost four feet across! This is a clock that makes a statement.
I've taken a little break from making some of our largest clocks, but I'm getting ready to bring them back. We're adding 40-inch and 46-inch options to our collection, and I expect them to be available in the coming weeks.

Please Measure Your Wall Before You Order!
Here's something I've learned after making clocks for so many years: People are often surprised by how small a clock looks once it's hanging on a big wall.
I've actually had customers want to return clocks because they wished they had ordered a larger one.
And I understand! It's really hard to picture what a 30-inch or 36-inch clock will look like when you're just looking at a photograph on a website.
So here's a little trick I recommend.
Get a large piece of paper or cardboard and cut out a circle approximately the size of the clock you're considering. Tape it to your wall and stand back.
Does it look right? Too small? Too big?
You can even try a couple of different sizes to compare.
If you don't have paper that large, just use a measuring tape and mark the approximate width and height on your wall with painter's tape.
It only takes a few minutes, and it can make a huge difference in choosing the right clock.

What Size Wall Clock Should You Buy?
Every room is different, but here are a few general suggestions:
| Clock size | Where it might work best |
|---|---|
| 12–15 inches | Kitchens, bathrooms, hallways, and smaller bedrooms |
| 18–24 inches | Bedrooms, dining areas, offices, and smaller living rooms |
| 30 inches | Living rooms, above consoles, and larger wall spaces |
| 36 inches | Large living rooms, fireplaces, entryways, and open floor plans |
| 40–46 inches | Great rooms, high ceilings, large feature walls, and commercial spaces |
A common decorating guideline is to choose wall art that's roughly half to two-thirds the width of the furniture beneath it. That's a helpful starting point for clocks, too, although sometimes a dramatic oversized clock deserves to break the rules!
Sometimes Bigger Really Is Better
I make smaller clocks, and I love them. But there's something special about a really large clock.
It isn't just something that tells time. It becomes part of the room's personality.
Whether you're decorating a living room, a large office, a restaurant, or a beautiful entryway, the right oversized wall clock can completely change the look of your space.
And after all these years, I still get excited about making them.
So if you've been searching for a large wall clock and keep finding clocks that are only 15 or 18 inches, I understand your frustration.
Come visit us at The Big Clock Store. We make genuinely large wall clocks, and we're bringing back even more oversized options soon.
And one last bit of advice from someone who's been making clocks for 25 years:
Measure your wall before you buy. You might be surprised how much bigger you can go!
